7 mg's of prednisone!

Yay! I haven't felt so good in ages! Years even! You should have seen me over Easter weekend. I was at a music festival up the front moshing three nights in a row. My legs were quite sore afterwards but I'm fine now (2 weeks later). No crashing, no extreme fatigue, no vomiting! It's awesome! Life is good! :)

It is quite a contrast to one year ago. I was on about 15 pills per day, injecting myself with immunosuppressant drugs, vomiting every few weeks, making it to school about two days a week and my parents were debating whether or not to get me a wheelchair for Eastercamp.

One of the main reasons I've been feeling so good is to do with my diet. If I go off my diet and eat the wrong foods I notice a big difference and my body just doesn't like other foods anymore.. not that it ever really did but hey. I feel more fatigued, have upset stomachs, feel nauseous, get a blocked nose and sneeze lots.

If there are any other Polymyositis sufferers out there, or anyone out there with some sort of illness I recommend you alter your diet. Sure it is hard to stick to sometimes but if it helps pain levels or just to feel a little better it's worth it. I can't promise that it will work for you like it has for me but I'm pretty sure you'll at least feel healthier and have more energy.

My diet is gluten-free, dairy-free, low sugar and egg-free. Here's a list of the foods I eat if you'd like to try it.

· Gluten-free muesli
· Soy milk
· Banana smoothies- soy milk + banana
· Gluten-free bread
· All fruit and vege’s except potatoes
· Beans in a can
· Fish- tuna, salmon etc
· Sultannas
· Dried apricots
· Popcorn- plain
· Dates
· So Good Soy Ice-cream
· Hummus- gluten-free etc
· Rice crackers

Hope it goes well if you try it and if you think of any other foods that are gluten-free, dairy-free etc let me know coz it can get a bit boring eating the same things everyday! It may take a few weeks, or even months to notice any difference but it's worth sticking to, and you may even lose a bit of weight in the process. What a bonus! Good luck!
