Remission!

I'm feeling so much better at the moment. The weather has such a BIG effect on your health. I have a lot more energy feeling warmer. I'm managing to do more as my body isn't using so much energy trying to keep me warm. I'm still having an afternoon nap/rest most days but I'm down to 12 mg of prednisone... 11 mg tomorrow and it's so nice being off so many drugs!

Diet also plays such a big part in your health. I notice such a big effect if I eat the 'inflammation contributing' foods so sticking to my gluten-free, dairy-free, low-sugar, and egg-free diet is the way to go!

The last few months have been crazy! I had a bit of a crash when I decreased to 14 mg of prednisone and vomited. That was right before practise exams. Moving, withdrawing from methotrexate and decreasing prednisone were quite stressful so I wasn't very keen to do my external exams. I managed to pass them all very well anyway, despite everything that was happening, so I was pleased about that.

I went to my Chch specialist for the last time on the 5th of Dec 06. He said my blood tests have been really good lately and he thinks I may be heading into remission so I'm hoping that's the case! It would be so great if I was!

All I've got to do now is decrease my prednisone about 1 mg a month. So hopefully this time next year I should be off it. Fingers crossed! That would be so awesome. I've also started on the osteoporosis drug to improve my bone density. The good thing is I'm young so it's easier to re-bulid my bone density than if I were older.

Things are going well and I'm hoping and praying they continue this way. :-)
